2020 Environmental Gathering Learning Boldly: Effective Climate Strategy in Complex Systems

In Alberta’s environmental sector climate change is the most significant complex challenge faced by nonprofits, industry, government and communities, requiring new strategies to meet the challenge.

In this exciting deep dive into complexity and climate challenges, participants are introduced to a practical approach to understanding, designing and operationalizing effective climate strategy for the current times. Led by Zaid Hassan, this approach is rooted in two decades of experience working in complex systems.

In May 1992, at the first Earth Summit, the global CO2 level was 359.99 ppm. Today, concentrations of CO2 in the atmosphere have risen to 412 ppm despite our best efforts. So, what does effective climate strategy look like in 2020? This module introduces a practice for effective climate strategy.

Participants are expected to participate in all four of these sessions:

- Session 1: Effective Strategy in Complex Systems - Monday October 5 from 10:00 to 11:30 am
- Session 2: The Elements of Effective Climate Strategy - Thursday October 8 from 10:00 to 11:30 am
- Session 3: Designing Effective Climate Strategy - Tuesday October 13 from 10:00 to 11:30 am
- Session 4: Operationalizing Effective Climate Strategy - Thursday October 15 from 10:00 to 11:30 am

- Refund Policy: Due to the nature of the 2020 Environmental Gathering events this year, we are unable to offer ticket refunds.
- Ticket Transfer: Due to the nature of the 2020 Environmental Gathering events this year, we are unable to offer ticket transfers.
- Code of Conduct: The 2020 Environmental Gathering is dedicated to providing a harassment-free event experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, or religion. Alberta Ecotrust does not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form. At the sole discretion of Alberta Ecotrust, and without a ticket refund, we receive the right to expel from the event, anyone that we determine is violating the Code of Conduct and/or behaving in a manner that could be disruptive to the event or any other event participant.
- Photo & Video Release: Alberta Ecotrust uses photographs and videos of our events in our promotional materials on our website and social media channels. By virtue of your attendance at the 2020 Environmental Gathering sessions, all event participants agree to the use of their likeness in these materials.
